Lois and Clark -- a Hope for Paws Rescue

I have the honor of doing a little photography once in a while for Hope for Paws, one of my favorite rescue organizations. You know their work... the really harrowing, heart-wrenching videos they produce. I began donating to them long before I volunteered to do some photography for them.I got a call from Lisa Arturo of Hope for Paws to photograph Lois and Clark, two companions who were living in a truck yard. And I was available and happy to do it. But first, here's the video of their rescue:Hope for Paws is hoping to get them adopted together as they are very devoted to each other. I took many pictures of them this week, including this one of Lois giving her boyfriend a big kiss. They are ...

Lois and Clark -- a Hope for Paws Rescue

Last year, Hope for Paws asked me to photograph a pit bull mother and her four puppies that Eldad Hagar and his team rescued. I was happy to do it and actually had two photo shoots with Lexi and her puppies. This weekend, I went to The Little Red Dog's Founder's Day (TLRD fostered the puppies and mom until they were ready to be adopted) in Lake Forest and Lexi, Cooper and Beamer were there! I really don't think they recognized one another. But it was great to have them reunited.Cooper is being raised by Jennifer and Jeff Harmell, who adore him. Beamer is brother to an older, protective sister named Sydney and is owned by Mark and Denise Needham. And Lexi, who was the first of all five to be ...

Lois and Clark -- a Hope for Paws Rescue

I love shooting for Hope for Paws and when Lisa Arturo contacted me, I made some time in my schedule to meet up with her again and finally meet Eldad Hagar, who does so many of the daring rescues and creates really heartbreaking, emotional videos (with if not quite a happy ending, a to-be-continued ending in which the dog is looking for its forever home. It's all good but by the time I'm finished watching them, I'm pretty much a sobbing pile of tears). The reason for the call? Lisa and Eldad rescued Thor from a garbage pile. I mean, a huge, tall, kind of frightening trash heap where he had been living. It was quite a harrowing rescue because, well, you can see it here. You'll see him ...

Lois and Clark -- a Hope for Paws Rescue

Lisa Arturo from Hope for Paws and I had a marathon four photo shoots last Sunday to do some updates on dogs rescued off the streets. Now I can show you two of the shoots we did on Sunday with Aurora and Anna, now Stella and Suzi, who were rescued together and are living the dream just two blocks apart in Manhattan Beach! Also check out Eldad Hagar's Flickr page for even more photos! So happy these two got great new lives! And yes, Suzi is quite a barky dog. She is so cute. They both are!Eldad, Lisa, and the volunteers do amazing work. I supported this organization way before I ever photographed pets. Check out their Facebook page and the Hope for Paws main website. An easy way to support ...

Hope for Paws Sneak Peek

Lois and Clark -- a Hope for Paws Rescue

I want to let Hope for Paws tell you all about this... don't worry, I will tell you about it here, too... but Lisa Arturo and I did four shoots yesterday, starting out on a beautiful Sunday morning in Hollywood and ending in a downpour in Santa Monica. We had a magnificent, hard day but it was just great and when you hear about it, you'll love what you see. But in the meantime, I am going to show you this little sneak peek. This little girl is Maya.Hope for Paws in Los Angeles does amazing rescue work, taking forgotten, unloved, discarded dogs off the streets and fields and deserts and cares for them before sending them off to be fostered, and then adopted into wonderful new homes. Eldad ...
