The Swimming Border Collie of Ross Castle

When I was in Ireland last month, we visited Ross Castle in Killarney and there we met -- well, maybe not met since we weren't formally introduced -- a lovely Border Collie who just couldn't get enough of chasing a stick in the lake, or Lough Leane, as it likes to be known as. In front of the castle, a man tossed the stick and every time the collie came back with it, she cried and barked for it to be thrown again. It was pretty funny, she just wouldn't tire out. So of course I took photos. I didn't have my camera with me that does good action shots but I managed to get a few.And when I came back from Ireland, I saw that one image had a really good expression, just prime for a composite. But ...

Another Photo Composite, Another Dog Lost at Sea

The Swimming Border Collie of Ross Castle

Oh, it cracks me up every time I write this, which turns out is fairly often, but AVID readers of this blog -- get it... avid... we don't have any avid readers of this blog! -- know I love doing pet photography composite work. It's really fun because you can put a dog or a cat in a situation they would never be in. Then you put in the minute details to sell the whole of it. I did another one tonight based on the artist rafy A's Surreal Fantasy Manipulation Tutorial. Now for those avid readers, you might recall another pet photography composite I did back in March called Luna at Sea. I still love that one but it's completely different. Just go back and forth between the two of them, you'll ...

A Photo Composite of Luna at Sea

The Swimming Border Collie of Ross Castle

You know I love Luna. That little border collie has been my muse through many photo composites. She had the trial lens glasses on, she rocked a fez in my Moroccan image, she was very wary in the woods. I specifically photographed her in order to do some composites and so every now and then, I leaf through the Luna library, see an expression I like, and create a composite. So I sometimes spend a little too much time on Facebook and I came upon a fantastic composite of a young boy on a wooden boat at sea in the fog. The wooden boat was actually a model. The fog was created from dry ice. I thought, I can do that. Now my image was inspired by that photographer's, it really looks nothing at all ...

The Swimming Border Collie of Ross Castle

It's only October 1... we have 30 more days to go. But I created a little Halloween tableau for you. Let's get ready for Halloween with the Witch and the Haunted House, the latest in the Storytelling Sessions.Kind of spooky, no? It would be a good companion piece to my blue dog.

Kiwi the Clown

The Swimming Border Collie of Ross Castle

Kiwi is my clown boy. He is just so amusing, I can't even stand it sometimes. His brother Mango, both adopted in June, is a serious fellow but Kiwi is a mischief maker, king of the roost, an escape artist, very athletic yet totally chill. And incredibly handsome, that little tux. He was around 3 when we got him from the local animal shelter. He came in as a stray. Figures, he's always trying to get out of the house. But someone's loss is our gain because he has just added so much to this household with his completely charming, clownish ways.I took a few pictures of my boys a couple of weeks ago, including this one of Kiwi. In the original, which is on this blog, Mango is photobombing him. ...
