Lawdy, What a Busy Week!

I just had the most fun week where we managed to photograph I think 11 dogs over five days of shooting. It was just so great, starting at the Jesus Wall Studio on Sunday with two clients we booked for those sessions... it included a tortoise! Then we had one of our Grammy bag recipients give us a call and we created an Eeyore-inspired composite for her differently abled dog named Eeyore. You know, Eeyore floating through the air attached to a red balloon? That one. And we photographed brother Roo as well.Next we were on to a Mother's Day gift card... this one had three dogs... a Greyhound, an Italian Greyhound, and a Pomeranian. We got great images of Bentley, Shadow and Baby individually ...

Lawdy, What a Busy Week!

You know those heart-warming stories you read of families being reunited? And sometimes -- often, really -- the particular relatives don't know each other exists? Yeah, that happened to me. Through the miracle of DNA science, my two sisters and I found out we have a half-sister in the state my father was born in and spent part of his twenties. And just last week, my sisters and I traveled to Minnesota to meet Nancy, our half sister, discovered through Ancestry. It was my cousin Joanie who first alerted us to the possibilities of having a new relative. On Ancestry, Nancy came up as her first cousin. On my sister Denise's profile, Nancy's DNA and age could make her only one thing -- a half ...

Lawdy, What a Busy Week!

Amanda reminds me I've known her for 12 years. That's a long time! I first met her when I was taking a lighting class and she was the makeup artist hired for the workshop. I liked her makeup and began hiring her for headshot shoots. When I first began doing pet photography, she and her wife Kate bought one of my first big pieces for their family of four dogs. That was a very memorable shoot because it was the first time I had four sets of eyes looking at me all at once. It happened on the second shot. I thought pet photography was easy. Maybe not easy, but very fulfilling. It's my favorite thing ever.I'm working on a new project now -- still involving dogs -- and I asked them to help me out ...

Pet Photography Shoot with Winston!

Lawdy, What a Busy Week!

Nick called. He said his girlfriend Lindsey had a little dog that was the love of her life. He knew Winston was her No. 1 guy and he wanted to do something special for her for Valentine's Day and that something special was a pet photography session. Now that is our specialty.I prepared a cute little gift certificate and it wasn't long before I heard from Lindsey, who thought Nick was the best boyfriend for surprising her with a pet photography shoot. Now in all honesty, we've been having quite a difficult March. Lindsey's photo shoot was the first one the entire month that didn't need to be postponed because of the weather. I know, Los Angeles is legendary for having great weather and we ...

Lawdy, What a Busy Week!

Pet photography in L.A.!You guys! You almost let me go all of May without a blog post! And surely you are waiting for one! I want to introduce you to Cosita, a much loved 13-year-old Pomeranian. Her owners, Don and Fernando, and I agreed to meet at a Los Angeles park. I'm not going to say which one. But it was one I'd never been to before though it's very iconic. It has views of downtown L.A. Spectacular.Anyway, we started off our shoot with the buildings of downtown in the background. For this shoot, I only brought my Fujifilm X-T2. I left my lights in the car and carried only the camera and a few lenses. The grass was really damp but nonetheless, I laid down so I could get beautiful ...
