The 2023 Cone Rangers

This summer, I had two Ice Cream Socials for Dogs (both with Barbie pink backgrounds except for a couple of Kens on blue), one of them for a unique group... striking actors and writers whose dogs were treated to a cone of doggy ice cream and a photo shoot. Hey, SAG and WGA! Woot-woot!These and the hundreds of dogs I've photographed over the years are... wait for it... The Cone Rangers. An ice cream cone can be one of your dog's greatest pleasures. Or an object of fear and loathing. Dogs who love people ice cream may do an immediate no for dog ice cream; some know not of the strange substance but are willing to take a sniff. It's a gamble on what looks you'll get but I'm here for it ...

The 2023 Cone Rangers

My publisher, Familius, just sent out its Fall 2019 catalog and our "Dogs Vs Ice Cream" book is in it! It's real and coming to a bookstore or pet store near you soon! It's very exciting! Very colorful! Okay, I'll calm down now. You know, I have really loved this project. I've written before that it was seven ice cream socials for dogs in August and September in which we photographed 192 dogs and cones filled with Purina's Frosty Paws doggy ice cream. I used Frosty Paws original because I wanted all the ice cream to be uniform in color -- like vanilla. I've used others that have pretty colors but I just wanted them all to be one color and Frosty Paws is very easy to find. And we just used ...

The 2023 Cone Rangers

I get requests for photos of dogs eating ice cream all the time (I really do!). The first two times I did a doggy ice cream social was on my driveway, which then led to our first photo shoot at Maxwell Dog in Studio City. It was a fantastic event, it sold out, and the store was crowded all day. Some people even called their friends to come over and when their shoots were finished, they continued the social part of the ice cream social until Maxwell Dog closed for the day.All this to say is we are having two days of our Ice Cream Social for Dogs on July 25 and 26! We are offering your choice of a 7x5 curved metal print or three 8x12 digital files for $60. Want both? Add $25.RSVP to Maxwell ...

Our DogVacay Ice Cream Social for Dogs Photo Shoot!

The 2023 Cone Rangers

Oh, if you know anything about me by now, you know I can't resist photographing dogs eating ice cream. It's the best. We just did this shoot again, photographing more than 40 dogs getting their brain freeze on. This time, Nicky Campa the Los Angeles manager for DogVacay (and a client of mine -- I photographed her dogs Tino and Izzy last year) invited me to do this shoot at the Yappy Hour she was sponsoring at General Assembly in Santa Monica. It was pretty fabulous. Chaotiic, but fabulous. You know, the genius thing about the ice cream social is you don't really have to get the dogs' attention. The beauty is in watching them attack that cone... sometimes petitely, sometimes in a ferocious ...
