Revisiting the Past

A DTLA Pet Photography Shoot

I know it sounds like you're about to enter a Southern Gothic novel with a blog title of "Revisiting the Past," but what today's post is about is ruminating on an image, thinking about ways to improve it, and improving it. At least that's what I hope I did. I photographed three Vizslas, actually three times I photographed them, and the sunset shoot was certainly my most spectacular. My favorite is of just one of them -- a silhouette of Csilla, who looks like she is chasing a sailboat. Well, I'm not completely sure it's my favorite, I just like it a lot. A DTLA Pet Photography Shoot

I've been wanting to do this for a long time. In fact, I already do it... I offer pet photography sessions at some of Los Angeles' most iconic landmarks. You probably already saw (aw, who am I kidding, no one sees anything here except for the crickets). I call it my I Love L.A. Pet Photography Photo Sessions. It's my signature, really. Sometimes we get a lot of images from the session, sometimes just a few. But these photographs are as iconic as L.A. itself. We photographed an actress, Kirby, and her Boxer Apollo at -- where else? -- Hollywood Boulevard. Besides the photo in front of the El Capitan theater, we also photographed the two of them with Captain Jack Sparrow, Chewbacca, Elvis and ...

A DTLA Pet Photography Shoot

Now I offer a Bridge session -- it's $150 for a photo shoot for terminally ill pets that includes a 5x7 print and digital file. But a friend and I were talking about senior pets, especially senior dogs. Now don't they deserve something in honor of their long years of love and devotion? That's why I created the Old Dogs Rule session. It was actually named after the hashtag used by San Francisco dog trainer Dianne Morey about her old dog Woody. Woody died this summer making it to old doghood. Dianne wrote a beautiful blog post about Woody's passing and how she lamented not having photographs taken of her AND Woody. She had hundreds of photos of Woody but none of the two of them together. ...

A DTLA Pet Photography Shoot

Ooh, been out of town the last week and haven't been able to post anything. And now that I'm home, tons of work! But the good news is, our ornaments and curved metal prints from our Maxwell Dog Holiday Photo Shoot have arrived and I'm delivering them tomorrow, Monday. From that fun, fun photo shoot, I created my holiday card. Here is a glimpse of a few of the ornaments, one of the curved metal prints (will look great on Valentine's Day, too!) and my card. Yes, taken with my iPhone but still... you can tell what it looks like.As I said on the back of the card: "What a year! It was a blast! Lots of kisses and treats and the occasional growl! Thank you! Now... who wants to go for a ...
