los angeles pet photographerI zipped down to Newport Beach yesterday to photograph some new dogs that the Little Red Dog and Mutts in Need are trying to find homes for. First, let me tell you a little about my experience. So I am driving down the street to where Mutts in Need is where I'm going to meet Kym. I heard barking. Lots of barking. And as I'm driving down Riverside Drive, a cul-de-sac, it dawns on me that most of the houses I'm seeing in this residential neighborhood have "kennel" or something written on them. These are just homes, not businesses, or at least that's what they look from the outside.

Kym told me that about 20 years ago, this street was zoned agricultural and that's why these residental homes have kennels. It was fascinating... you learn something new every day.

So when I arrived on Sunday, the majority of the dogs I photographed had been brought to Mutts in Need on Tuesday, including four 4-month-old puppies that came from Mexico. Bridget, a volunteer, really helped me take their pictures... she was great. If I could have, I honestly would have taken home a little white dog. She hadn't been named yet and I suggested Fizzy because of her sparkling, effervescent, bubbly personality. That girl was so sweet, I'm sure she'll be snapped up in a second. Oddly, I didn't get my best photo of the day from her... it might have been Wolfie, a young Affenpinscher, or the first photo of this completely heroic looking dog that I just had to give the treatment to.

There are some great looking dogs for adoption here so give them a chance. Find Mutts in Need here and The Little Red Dog here.
